The long version

The Forerunner 965 was the watch that finally put a bright AMOLED display and a titanium bezel on Garmin's serious running line, and it remains a genuinely capable flagship even sitting one generation behind the 970. The 1.4" AMOLED panel runs under Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and is protected by a titanium bezel that keeps the whole thing to 53 grams. Garmin's full training-metrics stack is here in complete form — Training Readiness, Training Status, HRV status, Acute Load and Race Predictor — built on multi-band GPS for accurate pace and distance under tree cover or between buildings. Battery life is genuinely long: up to 23 days in smartwatch mode and up to 31 hours with GPS running, figures the more power-hungry 970 does not quite match. Offline maps, 32 GB of storage for offline Spotify or Amazon Music, and full Garmin Pay support are all included, and Garmin Connect carries every metric with no subscription required.
