New Balance's Energy Arc puts a void under the carbon plate so the plate can actually deflect and rebound rather than just stiffening the foam. The result is one of the most obviously propulsive race shoes available, with a distinctive rolling sensation through midstance. Best over the half and full marathon where the geometry has time to pay you back.
First Stride lists EU sizing as the primary scale, with UK equivalents on each size button. Running shoes should have a thumb's width of room at the toe — if you are between sizes, take the larger one. Wide feet should size up half in Asics and Nike.
